I’m 15 and want to apply for a job as a sales assistant. Should I apply online and attach my CV via that or should I go into the store and give it in? Do I give it to the manager or just the person at the counter? What do I do when actually giving the CV.
And for on my CV, I’m quite shy, but i want a job where i’m around people so I can build my confidence. If I say that, will they not want to hire me because my ‘people skills’ aren’t superb? I’ll be fine when i start (probably). should i include that I’m shy-ish or not?
And also, what kind of questions will they ask me? The store I really want to work in is JeansWest (:
Hi, I think you should only apply online if that’s the only way they want you to apply. Otherwise, I think you should go into the store and hand it in. Just give it to the person at the counter. I don’t think you should put on your CV that you’re shy but if you get an interview, again don’t say you’re shy, but say you want to build up your people skills and you like being around people, you want to meet new people, you’re sociable etc. Also, don’t pin all your hopes on this one job because there will be other applicants after the same job. I think she is stereotyping all people who look like you. While that style does usually have a negative connotation, she needs to understand that their are always exceptions. show her that you have done nothing wrong, and ask her to accept your style, for it doesn’t make you any different of a person. She may not like the way you dress, but it is your decision and as long as it does not harm you in anyway, you should have to freedom of choice. She is only protecting you, but she needs to open her eyes and realize that not everyone is the same.
