65 Max entertainment spotlight artist of the month- “Stress”

Jabula “Stress” Hudson emerged from a strong musical background growing up in Jamaica, Queens, New York. Born to musical geniuses; the legendary “Dark Prince of Reggae” Keith Hudson and music Producer Jean Hudson, it was predetermined that Stress would be hip-Hop’s breath of fresh air. In an era where many believe hip-Hop has lost its’ touch, Stress’ musical prowess is much needed.

Respected by men and loved by many ladies, Stress’ proves to be a very versatile, suave, street lyricist who is climbing to the top. Much of Stress’ motivation is dedicated to his father Keith Hudson, who passed of lung cancer when Stress was 9 years old, and his mother Jean Hudson who passed from internal bleeding when he was 16 years old. Following in their parents foot steps as well are his two brothers; Ricky “Tye” Street a talented reggae singer, and Keith “Trifle” Hudson Jr. a Hip-Hop artist, together these three men will carry out their family musical legacy.

growing up Stress did not have it easy; because of this he followed a dark path. This path lead him to a near death experience, Stress was stabbed by a rival. Nevertheless, he got well and still strived to be the best lyricist, emptying much of his pain into his work, and using that unfortunate incident as a catalyst, to strengthen his ambition and determination so he may succeed within the music industry.

Stress’ musical background has made him well versed in many genres of music, including but not limited to R&B/Soul, Reggae, and Hip-Hop. Each genre adds to his signature style of production, which can be heard on his debut Album “Fahrenheit Affair”. The album, which is 90 percent, produced by Stress, features artist like Billy cook, Tami “Taboo” Latrell, and Magyver, and also a creative “duo” remake of one of his late Fathers, Keith Hudson, songs.

Stress’s Pop sensibility, lyrical ability, and “Swag”, has had many compare him to the late Frank Sinatra, who also shares Stress’s grace with music and his finesse with lyrics. Stress took a page from Frank and began to cultivate his own career, building his own music empire. An empire that has gained him much recognition and accolades in the industry. In 2004 Stress was nominated for ‘Best Rap Performer’ at the LA Black Music Awards. He has also been featured in several local magazines as well as Industry magazines, such as Unique style Magazine where he received 4.2 out of 5.0 for his debut album “Fahrenheit Affair”.  He has also been featured in Hyphy Magazine, Showcase Magazine, and Rap Illustrator. Stress can also be seen in “Unsigned”

a documentary based on the trials and tribulations of many artist who strive to break into the music industry.

Stress resume is very extensive he has worked with some of the best in the music industry. Lending his lyrical ability to two licensed songs for the TV show “South of Nowhere” titled “Ching Ching” and “Fall Back”. He has opened for many artists; such as Busta Rhymes, 112, Lil Jon, Lil Wayne, EPMD, Eve, young Bloodz, Ying Yang Twins, and slim Thug. The debut album “Fahrenheit Affair” can be purchased through amazon.com. His autobiographical book titled “Jabula’s Happiness” is also available. Stress is on a catapult to the top, the best advice is to sit back and watch this star shine!

How to make your vintage chic

1. To make the right kind of fashion statement, limit your vintage pieces to ONE per outfit. Use your vintage pieces to add flair to more contemporary clothing staples like a pair of black pants, a simple top, or a flattering dress.

2. Use your jeans! A flat front, lower rise, boot-cut jean goes with everything, including any of your fabulous vintage finds.

3. Avoid overdoing it with accessories. Keep it simple and let your vintage pieces be the focus of your outfit.

What to buy:

Locating those great vintage pieces that are going to blend beautifully into your current wardrobe, takes a lot of time and patience. You may have to visit several stores before you find that perfect piece. Keep your eyes open for some key items:

1. Romantic, feminine looking blouses in sheer fabrics, and ruffle or lace details.

2. Silky camisole-style tops in a colors that flatter your skin tone.

3. Jackets and coats with simple cuts and solid colors like grey, black, navy, and camel. Single breasted styles flatter most figures; look out for interesting details like ornate buttons.

4. Classic cardigan sweaters can easily be incorporated into your wardrobe as interesting toppers for dresses, tanks, and camisoles. Look for great vintage patterns and buttons.

5. anything with embroidery is worth checking out.

6. Be on the look out for evening dresses in chiffon, silk, or brocade fabrics.

7. You can get some fabulous deals on shoes, bags, and other accessories in vintage stores.

shopping tips:

Look for quality

Make sure you examine the garment before you buy; most stores have a very strict no return policy, so if you buy a damaged item, you’re stuck with it. Look for broken seams and stains; if you find any, the garment is not worth it. Small problems like missing buttons and broken zippers can be repaired, so don’t discount a great find over small details.

shop around

Vintage stores replenish their inventory pretty regularly, so visit them often to check out their new stock. Try to be friendly with the staff. They may be willing to contact you when they get a bunch of new arrivals.

Try on

Always try clothes on, because sizes vary by designer and time period.
